Israel: Rambam and Those Wacky Rabbonim
*Click to enlargeI actually thought this was a guide to the restrooms.
Naaah, they were directions for the mechitza, intersecting the Rambam's (Maimonides) Grave.
What? Are they all taking crazy pills??????
I wonder if running a massive fence across the length of his itty bitty grave has left a lot of people, including the Rambam's ghost, rather perplexed.

Oh my God, I can't believe that they have a mechitza at Rambam's grave! My wife and I visited the site in 1989, and believe me, this atrocity did not exist. In fact, we were contemplating the place one quiet evening when a young, very Orthodox couple came and the wife was praying a the grave with her husband right at her side.
What is happening in Israel? Are they going totally nuts?
I sat here just now and contemplated this. I looked at the picture and wondered how I would feel if I had to sit at that wall like I was in a time out and made to sit against the wall in punishment...completely ostracized and excluded.
I don't find it cute or charming or pleasant or "nice" in the ways that I have seen others try to rationalize this very demeaning and exclusionary ... thing.
